Parent Service Program

Every year, our success depends on the participation and support of our Crusader families and we look forward to partnering with you on the many initiatives offered by the Advancement Office. There are many opportunities throughout the year for families to complete their service requirement. In accordance with your admissions contract, each family is responsible for 35 service hours for two-parent families and 17.5 for single parents. The parent with whom the child resides is responsible for fulfilling the hours. (This does not include the service hours that each student is responsible to perform.)

By contractual agreement, if a family falls short of fulfilling its hours by May 31, there will be a balance due to the school in the amount of $5 per hour for each hour of deficit. Payment must be received before report cards, transcripts, or diplomas are released.

Diocesan Safe Environment Program Requirements

To all our wonderful parent volunteers: Thank you so much for your invaluable service. Without you we would not be able to complete our mission effectively. Our volunteers are extremely important to us and your contribution is genuinely appreciated.

The Diocese of Richmond has made a commitment to the safety of all youth. As part of this commitment, schools are required to keep records on file for all staff members and volunteers that document their fulfillment of the Diocesan Safe Environment (DSE) Regulations and VIRTUS training.

Any parent who volunteers at CHS, who has not completed this documentation in any other institution in the Diocese of Richmond (i.e., church or Diocesan feeder school), and who volunteers in situations that include children, must have the four items listed below on file in the CHS Business Office.

A completed Volunteer ScreeningOne Application
A signed copy of Diocesan Safe Environment (DSE) Regulation receipt form
A copy of your VIRTUS training certificate
A completed Volunteer Driver Information sheet (if you volunteer to assist in driving groups of Catholic High School students to and from school events)

All persons associated with the school who work in situations that include children undergo multiple screenings and comprehensive training. Additionally, volunteers who assist in driving groups of Catholic High School students to and from school events also complete a Volunteer Driver Information document.
If you are interested in volunteering at Catholic High School, please complete the Volunteer Safe Environment Compliance Checklist.
If you have completed the screening process at another Diocesan location, please add Catholic High School to your account. Go online to virtusonline.org, log in, go to My Info, Add Role and Location, and ADD Catholic High School. Notify Michele Olkowski in Business office once this is complete.
Volunteer screening must be repeated every five years. All background checks as well as VIRTUS training must be completed for persons 18 and older.

If you have completed the screening process at another Diocesan location, you only need to fill out and sign the section of the Volunteer Select application indicating where you completed your previous paperwork. You also need to go online to virtusonline.org, log in, go to My Account, Add a location, and ADD Catholic High School. You can then print a copy of your certificate (under My Training) and bring it to the Business Office.

Volunteer screening must be repeated every four years. Child Protective Services checks my only be completed for persons 16 and older (16 and 17 year olds need parental permission for this check). All background (CPS and Volunteer Select) checks as well as VIRTUS training must be completed for persons 18 and older.
