Ways to Give to
Bishop Sullivan CHS

Annual Giving Campaign

The Annual Giving campaign, Crusade for Excellence, is conducted annually beginning July 1st and concludes at the fiscal year end on June 30th. One hundred percent of the funds collected go directly to the operating budget. Support of this campaign is critical to the success of each academic year, as tuition does not fully cover the operating expenses of the school.

Capital Campaign

A capital campaign is designed to raise funds for new construction, renovations, and endowment over a designated period of time. In recent years, BSCHS has added a media center with state of the art technology, renovated athletic fields, expanded the dining facility, and in 2003, constructed a performing/fine arts center which included a 270-seat theater. Gift naming opportunities are available and pledges may be spread over a period of time. Give to the Capital Campaign.

Special Events

The two largest fundraising events of the year are the Grand Auction in March and the Crusader Classic Golf Tournament in May. Parent volunteers and alumni, along with Development Office staff organize both events. Monies collected from each go into the operating budget.

Matching Gifts

Gifts to BSCHS may be doubled or even tripled through matching gifts. Many companies match gifts made by employees. Please check with your employer to see if this is offered. Forms are usually available in the personnel office.

Giving to the Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School Foundation…

The Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School Foundation manages the endowed funds for Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School. The Foundation exists to help donors achieve their desired goals of providing permanent support to Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School in an efficient manner.

Investment Policy

All funds are pooled for investment purposes, but each donor retains a separate funding program and is recognized for their individual support unless a gift is requested to remain anonymous. No more than 70 percent of the funds shall be invested in individual stocks or mutual funds with the remaining funds invested in government or corporate bonds, bond mutual funds, certificates of deposit or money market accounts.

Spending Policy

The Foundation does not expend more than 5 percent of the fiscal year’s beginning balance of unrestricted funds in any given fiscal year. The spending policy of restricted gifts is left up to the donor or will be handled in the same manner as unrestricted gifts.

Unrestricted Gifts

Possibly the most important funds we receive, these funds enable our Board and administration to respond to needs as they arise. Income from unrestricted gifts is distributed at the discretion of the Foundation Board and can therefore be directed to the most current need or project.

Restricted Gifts

The donor specifies a particular area that their gift be designated to. Funds can be designated for building enhancement and expansion, scholarships, equipment and faculty support.

Planned Giving

Planned giving offers a donor the opportunity to support BSCHS with a deferred gift. Trusts, bequests, life insurance, retirement plans, and contributions made through a donor’s estate are all vehicles for such giving. Attractive tax benefits accompany this type of giving.

Endowment

Gifts are invested in an endowment fund to produce income to supplement the school’s operating costs.

Named Scholarship Funds

There are currently 20 scholarships awarded annually to students attending Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School. These named funds remain in perpetuity because the principal is never spent. Scholarship assistance for students is typically based on the following criteria:
