Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School
The Diocese of Richmond has made a commitment to the safety of all youth. Schools are required to keep on file, completed documents ensuring fulfillment of the Diocesan Safe Environment Regulations and VIRTUS training.
Any parent who will be volunteering at CHS in situations that include children who has not completed this documentation in any other institution in the Diocese of Richmond (i.e., church or Diocesan feeder school), and who volunteers must have the four items listed below on file in the CHS Business Office:
- A Child Protective Services (CPS) background check
- A completed Volunteer Select Application
- A signed form testifying to the receipt of the Diocesan Safe Environment Regulations
- A copy of your VIRTUS training certificate
Additionally, if you volunteer to assist in driving groups of Catholic High School students to and from school events, you will need to complete a Volunteer Driver Information sheet.
If you have completed the screening process at another Diocesan location, you only need to fill out and sign the Volunteer Select application section indicating where you completed your previous paperwork. You also need to go online to virtusonline.org, log in, go to My Account, Add a location, and ADD Bishop Sullivan CHS. You can then print a copy of your certificate (under My Training) and bring it to the Business Office.
Volunteer screening must be repeated every four years. Child Protective Services checks my only be completed for persons 16 and older (16 and 17 year olds need parental permission for this check). All background (CPS and Volunteer Select) checks as well as VIRTUS training must be completed for persons 18 and older.
