School & College Counseling
Guiding Students from High School Application to College Admission
In the world of Catholic High School, the School Counseling and College Counseling Departments are intertwined. Our emphasis as counselors is on highly-individualized collaboration, creating relationships with students and their families from the last year of middle school through high school graduation and college matriculation.
By the time we write a college letter of recommendation, we generally have known a student for three years, and when there are several siblings, we might have known the students’ family for a decade. We cherish our long and deep connections with the CHS community. We believe those connections make us better counselors and allow us to provide customized guidance throughout the four years of high school.
Our comprehensive academic guidance and college counseling program includes:
- Course Planning
- Career Interest Inventories
- Planning for PSAT/SAT/ACT
- Administration of PSAT and SAT
- Individual College Planning Meetings with Each Student in Junior Year
- College Admission Seminar for Juniors
- College Application Seminar for Seniors
- Visits to Catholic High School by College Representatives
- Financial Aid/FAFSA Seminar for Parents of Seniors
- Parent-Teacher Conferences
The staff of the School Counseling Office at CHS demonstrated an unwavering commitment to helping our child navigate her high school career as well as the college admissions process successfully. Additionally, the mutual respect and on-going communication they provided our daughter has assisted her in establishing a strong academic foundation, a growing maturity and a sense of community belonging. These skills shared by the CHS School Counseling Office have helped prepare her for all of the challenges she faces at college and ultimately in life. We are truly grateful."
